What is cleanbooth?
A clean booth (also called a softwall cleanroom) is a localized, self-contained clean environment built inside a larger room to control airborne particles for specific processes—without constructing a full cleanroom.
What “Class 100K” Means
Allows up to 100,000 particles (≥0.5 microns) per cubic foot of air and equivalent to ISO Class 8 under ISO 14644-1 cleanroom classification.
Key Features
- Filtration System
-
- Uses HEPA filters (99.97% efficiency at 0.3 microns)
- Typically installed in Fan Filter Units (FFUs) on top of the booth
- Airflow Design
-
- Usually non-unidirectional (turbulent airflow)
- Some designs may include partial laminar flow for better cleanliness
- Air Changes per Hour (ACH)
-
- Around 10 to 25 ACH
- Enough to dilute and remove airborne contaminants
- Structure / Materials
-
- Modular aluminum or stainless steel frame
- Walls made of: PVC soft curtains (most common), or Acrylic / polycarbonate rigid panels, Anti-static (ESD) curtains or flooring can be added for electronics use
- Positive Pressure
-
- Maintains slight positive pressure
- Prevents unfiltered air from entering the booth
- Lighting
-
- Integrated LED or fluorescent cleanroom lighting
- Sealed fixtures to avoid particle generation
