What is an AHU (Air Handling Unit)?
An Air Handling Unit (AHU) is a machine used to condition and circulate air in a building or cleanroom.
Main Functions:
- Air filtration (removes dust and particles using pre-filters and HEPA filters)
- Cooling and heating of air
- Humidity control
- Air distribution through ducts
Main Components:
- Filters (pre-filter, medium filter, HEPA)
- Cooling coil (uses chilled water)
- Blower / fan
- Dampers (control fresh and return air)
In Cleanroom Use:
- Maintains cleanliness class (e.g., Class 10K, 1K)
- Controls temperature, humidity, and pressure
- Supplies clean air to FFUs or directly to the room
